Rhesus macaque are familiar brown or grey monkeys with pink faces and rears. The close-cropped hair on their heads accentuates their very expressive faces. Their natural range includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Southeast Asia, and China.
These intelligent animals can adapt to many habitats, and some can even become accustomed to living in human communities. This is very common in India and I happen to observe one such family recently on my way back from Pune to Mumbai.
