The Path to Muktinath, Nepal : Video

Travel snippets of journey from Beni to Muktinath, Nepal. It takes you thru the Annapurna Conservation Area and can view the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. The video is around 4m:39s.

Muktinath (12,500feet), located at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass, is one of the most ancient Hindu temple of God Vishnu. It’s a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists and is also called Mukti Kshetra, which means the “place of liberation or moksh”.

To visit the temple meant a drive of 175 kms from Pokhara into the Annapurna Conservation Area. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara took thirty minutes, where we got into a sturdy Tata Safari Storme to drive us to Muktinath.

Pokhara to Beni is 100 kms and we covered the distance in 4 hours. We took a halt in Beni at the Tata Motors Service center, where they had a quick look at our Tata Safari Storme and we are declared fit to go.

The next halt is planned at Jomsom, which is small town at the base of the Nilgiri Himal(23,166feet), It’s also the base camp for climber to the mount and has a small airstrip, which gets daily flights from Pokhara.
